I agree with other posters, the manual is not very explicit. But even using it with the defaults you can see results at once: in my case back pain is gone using the TENS option (with the defaults) in only a few minutes. I also have arthritis in one elbow (which bothers some, I usually have to flex it like 60 times before it goes down). Today I just put the two electrodes in the elbow, started the TENS mode and amazingly the pain was gone in a very short time, and stayed off…
No more ibuprofen for me.
And the EMS works, it takes a little tinkering with the values, but you can feel the effect (try it in your upper back: if feels almost like getting a kneading massage).
It would be nice if some other user could post a link with detailed user instructions on how to set the unit for different ailments

just got my unit…when I opened the box and took it out I noticed the screen was scratched, definately not a new unit. I am sending it back and looking for another one.
